It is frequently recommended by Speech-Language Pathologists, Assistive Technology Specialists, and Occupational Therapists as an effective Electronic Aid for Daily Living (EADL).

The BT RemoteSwitch honors the user’s existing setup by working seamlessly with standard iOS and Android accessibility inputs, including:

  • Voice Control: Spoken commands via Siri or Google Voice Access.
  • Eye Tracking: Gaze-based selection using compatible external eye-tracking hardware.
  • Switch Control: Compatibility with adaptive switches for single-switch or dual-switch scanning.
  • Head Tracking: Direct integration with native device tracking features.
  1. The user speaks a custom phrase, such as “Nurse call” or “Hey Siri, call the nurse”.
  2. The voice command launches a pre-configured device shortcut.
  3. The shortcut opens the BT RemoteSwitch app, which instantly transmits a secure Bluetooth signal to the relay unit.
  4. The relay completes the circuit, activating the connected nurse call infrastructure or environmental device.

Users can interact with TD Snap using their preferred communication method, such as eye gaze or switch scanning, to select a custom button configured for the BT RemoteSwitch. Selecting the button runs the app background sequence, transmitting the Bluetooth signal to trigger the care team alert.

System integration is straightforward and typically takes 10 to 15 minutes. The process consists of three simple steps:

  1. Hardware Connection: Plug the relay into the facility’s standard jack.
  2. Bluetooth Pairing: Securely pair the relay with the target tablet or smartphone.
  3. Software Configuration: Set up the custom button in TD Snap or install the pre-configured mobile shortcut.

The relay features a reliable indoor operating range of 10 to 30 feet. For optimal performance, the relay should remain in the same room as the communication device. Avoid placing the enclosure behind heavy metal structures or inside dense nurse call panels, as metallic shielding can impact Bluetooth signal strength.
